Lucy’s Experience
I did not know what to expect and was concerned about being judged, not “fitting-in”. That feeling did not last long. I felt welcomed and part of something special. The peer support and that of the people running Better Together has been a life saver for me. Better Together is the mainstay of my recovery, it keeps me going on a daily basis, knowing that I am not alone and that it is a group of people with lived experience who are welcoming, non-judgemental and support each other on a daily basis. Friendships can be made and you are accepted no matter what your needs are.
Amanda’s Experience
I was very anxious and especially after all other sources I tried before, which I was very enthusiastic about, I joined this group and to be honest I joined it with negativity, thinking about what work I have done before which made me more depressed, I am I now looking forward to every day to log in. What I love most about this group I can really be myself and honest and nobody judges me. The feedback I get from everyone is absolutely brilliant, it makes me think sense and really everyone can say what they want and they are not judged For anyone new to this group please keep logging in, I really mean this, I felt lost and not belonging anywhere and a nervous wreck but I have to say my family and close friends have noticed an amazing difference in me since I joined this group, I would never praise a group if I didn't think it was good and as I said before I have tried many before, I am so happy that I can be honest without judgement but get great engorging feedback, after all the years I have tried to express myself without judgement, I have found it now, I am so grateful.
Richard’s Experience
I am on a very long waiting list for face-to-face counselling as I am sure others are. Better Together was suggested to me and I have made a point of logging in every evening sometimes with the camera on and sometimes without. I have found it an outstanding help and community and even when I get a slot for face-to-face counselling, I intend on staying with Better Together and joining every evening. Thanks to all the team who Put a huge effort in organising and hosting it. Don’t be afraid to join.
Jason’s Experience
I was anxious about speaking on a group call and having my camera on. My anxiety left and everyone was very open and honest. Better Together is helping me to control myself and understand what’s going on. Everyone gives brilliant feedback and are very supportive on it. We all have something in common. I would say just log on, you don’t have to talk if you don’t want to and can turn your camera off, but if you decide to talk, we can all support you and give advice.
